Having lived in Holly Michigan all of his life, Mike started playing the drums when he was 14 years old. At a very early age he was fascinated how pencils, sticks etc., would bounce and make rhythm. Then he discovered drum sticks and there was no turning back.
In 1965 & 1966 he performed with a band called Richie & The Royal Tones and another called The Fugitives. One of his favorite times was playing with the band at his high school for the dances after the basketball games. Other bands he has performed with are Moxie, The Martells and then Sound F/X & After Five with Rick Boehms, LEGEND The Band's bass player.
Just before the start of a performance at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, a storm came through the area and knocked out the power. He and the other band members improvised and played the event acoustically, much to the thrill of the wedding party and guests.
Chuck Berry and Bob Seger were early musical influences along with the Rolling Stones. He loved the Chuck Berry covers that Bob Seger did. To Mike, that is the essence of Rock & Roll.
Mike currently performs with the Trinity Lutheran Church worship team in Fenton.
Mike's love of drumming is evident when watching him perform. He is charged with energy and enthusiasm. He adds a real strong and steady back beat to LEGEND The Band.
